Let Your Water Heater Take a Vacation With You!

Posted by admin on Jul 29, 2017 in Uncategorized

No, you can’t take it with you, but you can turn it off for the week you are gone and save money on your energy bill.  If you have a regular electric or natural gas water heater, it is one of the highest energy consumers in your home.  Make sure there is no risk of freezing and then shut it off while you are on vacation.  You may be surprised by how much you save!  You can shut it off at your main circuit panel, the main shutoff handle on the heater itself, or some heaters even have a vacation setting on the temperature control dial.  You could alternately just turn your water heater down to its lowest setting.  One tip, make sure you turn it back on as soon as you return home.  It will take an hour or so to heat the water back up!
